Why do we pray

salah

After a long and hectic day at work, how difficult it is for a tired person to go out to the mosque and concentrate on his prayers to Allaah, the Almighty. Snuggled up in a warm and cozy bed, how difficult it is to get up at the call of the Mu`azzin: “Come to prayer! Come to success!” The famous doctor and philosopher, Ibn Sina (Avicenna), recalls such a moment in his life. One cold and icy night, he and his slave were resting at an inn in a remote part of Khuraasaan. During the night, he felt thirsty, so ... أكمل القراءة »

How does one attain sincerity

religeous

Firstly: Sincerity towards Allah is the best type of sincerity. The Muslim is being sincere towards his Lord if he achieves sincerity in three aspects: faith and proper belief, acts of obedience, and morals and manners. Faith does not mean mere wishful thinking. The one who is sincere in his faith is the one who attains faith in the way his Lord wants from him, which includes sincerity in faith, sincerity in intention, and sincerity in fear of Allah, may He be exalted. Not every act of obedience is sincere unless it is done, both outwardly and inwardly, in a ... أكمل القراءة »

Forgiveness as a way of life

forgiveness

EVER wonder what life would be like if our family and friends never forgave us for the mistakes we commit? Take a moment to reflect on your own life. Think hard about it. What images do you see more often? Do you see yourself apologizing more or waiting for an apology? Now try to forget about all of those times when you felt someone else should have been asking you for forgiveness but did not come around to it.  Forget about all of those times when you felt you deserved an apology but one was not forthcoming. Jihad .. the sacrificed struggle

jihad

Like Christianity, Islam permits fighting in self-defense, in defense of religion, or on the part of those who have been expelled forcibly from their homes. It lays down strict rules of combat that include prohibitions against harming civilians and against destroying crops, trees and livestock. As Muslims see it, injustice would be triumphant in the world if good people were not prepared to risk their lives in a righteous cause. One reads in the Qur’an: “Fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do not transgress limits. God does not love transgressors.” (Qur’an 2:190) “And fight ... أكمل القراءة »

Do not Lie even in Joke!

lies

by Shawana A Aziz  True belief in Allah and the Day of Judgment implies that the person is truthful in his speech If he truly believes that Allah Hears and Sees everything he does and a Day will come when he will be accounted for his actions, then he will not lie.  The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “Let he who truly believes in Allah and the Last Day speak good or be silent.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee]  It is from the tricks of Shaytaan that he first makes sins look insignificant and minor in the eyes of the believers, ... أكمل القراءة »

Correctness and Intentions

intention

From the fundamentals of knowledge which have been neglected by many Muslims is how and when an action becomes righteous and acceptable to Allâh. In fact, the matter has grown worse than that! We live in an age in which many Muslims assume that whatever actions they undertake as regards the Dîn, then they must surely be acceptable to Allâh! Such assumptions – arising from ignorance – have played a destructive role in the collective affairs of this Ummah – may Allâh increase it in nobility – and may possibly being destructive to one’s own salvation in the Hereafter, as ... أكمل القراءة »
